Yaaay, not only do I have a coffee table, I also have a bed now! \o/ And I got it for super-cheap -- $75, with queen-size mattress, boxspring, frame, and headboard, all in pretty good condition (minus a minor tear in the boxspring fabric). Well, $120 in total, including tip, since the seller's roommate was nice enough to help me haul it in his truck. I felt bad because I dragged him across half the city for 40 minutes in some truly terrible traffic and narrow roads, and he'd recently lost his job. Still, that's cheaper than anything else I'd found--the cheapest mattress alone was $130, without delivery, so I still came out ahead. Just need to get a mattress cover, sheets, and blankets. Which might well cost as much as I've already done, but, oopth.
While dropping the bed off, also discovered the garage was recarpeted! I'm actually not sure how to feel about that--it looks a lot nicer now, and going from upstairs to my room won't be the Descent Into Concrete, but I was thinking about just using it as an actual, you know, garage. Still, won't kill me to park outside, and will be nicer whenever I end up getting a dryer and washer, since the hookups are down there. I just don't know what to do with the extra space. :o
Man, I can't express how excited I am to finally be getting my own place. I almost feel like a real adult, Ma!
